2011 Summer Show in Atlanta

We just arrived in Atlanta, GA for our semi-annual gift show at the Atlanta Gift Mart. This show is one of our anticipated gift show this year since it's one of the biggest gift show (if not the biggest!). The Americasmart is consist of three multi-story building with lots of showrooms plus the temporaries (like myself). And I'm so thrilled to feature our new collection of "Modern Metals".

What inspires you?

I often get asked by my customers....where do you get your inspirations? The answer is everywhere! I could be in a parking lot, fabric store, or nursery and get inspired by the displays, patterns, colors, scents and feel. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and creatively make good use of them.

Spring Cleaning!

Whether you have a studio or a boutique it is a good time of the year to do some overhaul cleaning to keep things tidy and efficient. I have to admit, I love Spring cleaning because I get to organize and get rid of stuff that I don't use and make room for things that I really need. It's a fresh new start!

It's me time!!!

We have been so busy at Sosie Designs Jewelry studio with orders, projects and paperwork. So I took the weekend off to get some needed rest and a little bit of fun!

Thursday Tip: Signs Matter!

I'm obsessed with signage! Just ask my husband, Steve, who is a Tupperware consultant for almost 9 years. Every first Saturday of the month you'll find him at the De Anza Flea Market (it's not your typical flea market....it's more like a fair than a flea market) showcasing his Tupperware. I always encourage him to create signs for his displays......because it draws attention to your booth! Customers read the signs and encourages them to stop by and check out what's new or better yet, what's on SALE!

If your having a retail event, it is important to have some signage that tells you a little bit more about the jewelry. Is it sterling silver, handmade, or on sale? Catch your customers attention by focusing on your product features.



Here's a clever idea from a Men's Shop in downtown Seattle, I took this picture on my way to catch my ride to the airport. The sign says" Outfit of the week!" with a discount if you purchase any of these showcased items. You can incorporate this idea to your retail store....."Jewelry of the week!" or perhaps "Featured Jewelry Artist of the month!"

Thursday Tip: Give them what they Want!

Yes, give your customer what they WANT! Display "Want" items in your retail prime spot where they can't miss it! Why? Simply because customers respond to what they want. So don't display things that they would normally purchase, instead display items that call to their hearts desire!

Despite these tough economic times, I have seen a buying trend at our shows that customers and buyers alike are still purchasing what they "Want", but they are more selective in the purchase of items that show quality craftsmanship and value. They want their purchases to last and therefore save money.

I'm finally blogging!!! Who knew :-}

I remember 3 years ago, I stared my wholesale jewelry business and exhibited at the Northern California Fashion Market in San Mateo, California.


I started with just a few collections of pearls and crystals. I remember getting my very first wholesale order from a bridal shop and I was so excited!!! (I still get excited when orders roll in)


These photos reminds me how far my jewelry collections grew as well as my displays ~ I can't believe I used white displays for sterling silver jewelry!
